Single Family Remodel,
Belvedere, CA
An extensive remodeling of a 1900 vintage shingled residence that has sweeping views of San Francisco Bay, Tiburon, Angel Island and the Bay Bridge. The program consisted of a new entry, kitchen, bathrooms and the creation of a master suite within the area of two existing bedrooms.
The design challenge: the owner has clean contemporary tastes and the desire that the new work look like it belongs in the older house.
Pearwood cabinetry wraps the main living spaces and morphs as it moves from kitchen to dining room to living room to seating area, successfully unifying the open space. The cabinetry is designed with sufficient detail to let it sit comfortably within the older house without being historically imitative.
The Master Bedroom has seven custom macore wood sliding panels that lead to a Study as well as the closet and the Master Bathroom. Privacy in the bathroom is attained through use of electronic "privacy" glass that becomes obscure at the touch of a switch.
A Guest Bathroom is finished with custom blended glass tiles.
